The Brown Note and You!

I personally have never succumbed to the terror and warm presence that this theoretical experience could potentially bring.  It’s an interesting theory however I have never actually heard of anyone losing control.  I’ve only felt somewhat nauseous and received headaches from prolonged experiences.

Thomas Dolby’s Home Studio Is A Solar Powered Boat

Yes, that’s right.  His home recording studio called, Nutmeg is a 1930s lifeboat that is powered solely on solar panels and wind.  It’s quite the crazy setup.  Check it out after the jump.

Through the jump is a pretty entertaining video.  It showcases what a production mixer/recordist experiences when trying to capture the sound of a room when talent is present.  I don’t have any experience in production audio but I would guess it might be easier to capture this source before or after the day starts.

Yoda Gives Driving Directions

“You’re gonna kill people if you give directions like that.”  Hahaha…love it.  Check out TomTom’s follow up from their last Star Wars release with this promo video for the Yoda voiceover on their GPS navigation systems.  Is it sad I only want to buy one of these to hear these voices?  Help me.

MIT Creates Piezo Fibers!

“Yoel Fink, an assistant professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and his colleagues developed fibers that are active where most are passive. Specifically, through a new application of widely used technology called piezoelectrics, fibers can convert sound waves into an electrical signal and vice versa, MIT announced Monday.”
