Mix Online: Designing and Mixing “Tron: Legacy”

Before I got out to see Tron: Legacy I had the impression that the movie would be heavily influenced and involved with Daft Punk’s musical score. Upon seeing it my theory was apparent and the score was on the forefront of the soundscape for the film.  This isn’t a bad thing by any means however [...]

TC-Helicon’s VoiceJam

TC-Helicon has released “VoiceJam”.  An iPhone/iPad looping app for recording ideas.  It works similar to a looping pedal and they are marketing it to be used with your voice but whose to say you can’t use other things?

The Los Angeles quartet known as OK GO has gone from being a rare young light on a major label to arguably the world’s most bleeding edge independent outfit. The viral music video for the recorded version of “This Too Shall Pass” off of the album “Of the Blue Colour of the Sky” was recently remixed in [...]

RØDE Rage – You’re Not Alone

No, this video series is not about a self help group that has been wronged by RØDE microphones. I’m actually not quite sure why it’s called RØDE “Rage” because the videos that have been published today have all gone over rather smoothly. Through the jump I have posted interviews with, Scott Gershin, Watson Wu, Alan [...]

Gear Head: Oceansize

One of my favorite prog-rock/post-rock bands (and yes, named after the Jane’s Addiction track) has a video up from Music Radar giving a run down of the gear they use on the road.  The video mostly consists of guitar pedals but it’s a good watch if you’re a pedal nut.  Check it out after the [...]
